While experts waste years studying economics, history, public policy, sociology, psychology, or international relations, we have developed a much simpler framework.
Capitalism is responsible for nearly every inconvenience experienced by modern society. Rising prices? Capitalism. Student debt? Capitalism. Bad weather? Probably capitalism. (or Israel)
While some people point to the unprecedented prosperity, technological innovation, and higher standard of living created by free markets, we prefer to focus on the fact that some people have more money than we do. We believe the existence of successful people is deeply problematic.
Colonialism is the second explanation for everything. If we encounter a problem that cannot immediately be blamed on capitalism, we simply trace it back through history until we find colonialism.
This approach allows us to discuss events from hundreds of years ago while avoiding the difficult task of addressing present-day realities. Through careful analysis, we have determined that nearly every conflict, disagreement, inconvenience, or parking shortage is somehow connected to colonialism.
Racism is the third pillar of our analysis and serves as a convenient backup whenever the first two explanations are not generating enough engagement online. We believe every institution, organization, tradition, policy, and social interaction contains hidden systems of oppression that only SDS members possess the intellectual ability to identify.
While ordinary people may see individuals making choices and facing consequences, we understand that personal responsibility is an outdated concept that distracts from our preferred explanations.
By combining capitalism, colonialism, and racism in varying proportions, SDS can explain virtually every event in human history without conducting any additional research.
No matter the topic, our conclusion remains the same: someone else is responsible, someone else should fix it, and we should hold another meeting about it.
Enter any problem and our peer-reviewed framework will identify the true root cause instantly, confidently, and without evidence.
